Historical Aspects

• Founded in 1965, PEM is the second graduate program created at COPPE/UFRJ, and is one of the first programs in the country in its field.

• PEM-COPPE/UFRJ has contributed to the education of several people that have become faculty and researchers, instituting many Mechanical Engineering graduate programs across the country.

• Since its creation, the Program offers its students a graduate educational formation highly aimed at the mastery of phenomenon fundamentals, processes and technological systems regarding Mechanical Engineering. The classes contents and themes and methodology chosen at our Masters Dissertations and Doctoral Thesis reflect these tendencies.
